Mutual Funds; PMSConsultation Paper; Dated: 16.07.2024

SEBI has released a Consultation Paper on the ‘Introduction of new asset class or product category’. The objective is to seek public comments on proposal to introduce a new asset class or product category to bridge the gap between Mutual Funds and Portfolio Management Services (PMS) in terms of flexibility in portfolio construction. The minimum investment amount under the new asset class has been proposed at Rs 10 lakh per investor.

Further, the new asset class will likely provide investors with a regulated investment product featuring higher risk-taking capabilities and ticket size, aimed at curbing the proliferation of unregistered and unauthorised investment products. Comments on the same may be submitted by August 6, 2024.
