SEBI Increases Position Limits for Trading Members in Index Futures and Options Contracts

SEBI, vide Master Circular dated October 16, 2023, had specified the overall position limit at the Trading Member level to be the higher of Rs 500 crores or 15% of the total Open Interest (OI) in the market. This position limit is applied separately for all open positions on futures and options contracts in a particular underlying index. SEBI has now raised the position limits for Trading Members in index futures and options contracts to Rs 7500 crore or 15% of the total OI in the market.
