Smt. Madhabi Puri Buch becomes the first woman Chairperson of SEBI

The Central Government has appointed Smt. Madhabi Puri Buch, former Whole Time Member of SEBI as the Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) w.e.f 1st March, 2022, as the tenure of the earlier chairman Mr. Tyagi ended on 28th Feb, 2022. The appointment is made initially for 3 years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. She is the first woman from private sector to be appointed as Chairperson.
