RBI Facilitates Rs 2000 Banknote Deposits via India Post; Issues Deposit Application Format for Credit to Bank a/c

RBI allows members of the public to send Rs 2000 banknotes through India Post from any post office in the country to any of the RBI Issue Offices for crediting to their bank accounts in India. Additionally, the RBI has released a prescribed format for deposit applications for credit to the bank account. Further, more than 97% of the Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation as on May 19, 2023 have been returned. The Rs 2000 banknotes continue to be legal tender.
