AIF means any fund established in India in the form of a trust or a company or a limited liability partnership or a body corporate which is a privately pooled investment vehicle collecting funds from investors in accordance with a defined investment policy for the benefit of its investors; and is not covered under SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996, SEBI (Collective Investment Schemes) Regulations, 1999 or any other regulations of the Board to regulate fund management activities.
But, where the AIF operates as a financial enterprise with restricted activities, the two views on the presentation of long-term investments in the Cash Flow statement can be made i.e. one view is that the cash flows from investments i.e., generated from interest, dividends, etc., and proceeds from purchase/sale of investments can be considered as cash flows from/used in, investing activities by the Fund and another view is to treat the same as operating activities.
