On June 30, 2023 the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued an update considering the instances where individuals having PAN have encountered difficulties while attempting to download the challan (receipt) after making a payment for Aadhaar-PAN linking.
The CBDT has clarified that challan receipt isn’t necessary to link PAN with Aadhaar. Moreover, once the PAN holder completes the payment, an email containing a copy of the challan is automatically sent to them.
Further, it is also clarified that Department will duly consider the cases where the fee payment and consent for linking have been received, but the actual linking process has not been completed by June 30, 2023.
